I don't think it's good to involve astrology/signs in your relationship. If you enjoy spending time with someone and you respect eachother, then try to see what happens from this point. I think it would be unhealthy to allow signs to influence who you become involved with or who you become friends with. Think about the person, not their sign. Take care.
I usually go by the Zodiac, Chinese astrology is a little more complex and hard to really understand if u ask me. It's based on old Chinese philosophy and all together different, the two are like day and night. The zodiac told me that I was compatible with other Pisces and that me and Gemini's don't mix, which I found to be true. So I find the Zodiac to be more correct and helpful based on my own experiences (at one time I was really into the stuff). On the other hand remember its just for entertainment purposes, sometimes there will be things that make you go OMG, but I wouldn't take too much of it to heart.
